Why start every season with colds, flus, allergies or bronchitis, and then force ourselves to take medicine? Why not simply prepare ourselves ahead of time?

Chinese medicine, as we study and practice it today, has kept billions of people alive for thousands of years by eating, moving, and behaving in ways appropriate to the seasons.

The disease that sprouts in Springtime is the disease that went to seed in fall. What went to seed in fall was growing in the spring and summer. And so it goes forever. It’s the same every year: the seasons always changing. Find your place in the moment and head illness off before the pass.

FIVE WAYS TO KEEP YOU HEALTHY IN THE FALL

Eat yellow and orange foods i.e. pumpkin, squash, or carrots.

Incorporate warmer spices like nutmeg, cinnamon or cardamom.

The crock pot is your best friend. Slow-cooked soups, stews and delicious meats are the best way to keep you warm and your belly happy.

Your mom was right, keep a scarf around your neck and your feet always warm.

Rise and fall with the sun as closely as possible. Sleep is the key to a long and healthy life.
